“One should do everything as simply as possible, but not simpler!”

Our world is a cross-linked system of immense complexity. In large scale things as well as in small things. To be able to handle this system constructively, we have to consistently produce simplified and clear, straightforward images of reality. Simplification for me sometimes goes too far as we try to repair people, organisations and the environment in the same way as we would repair machines. The challenge is to work with people, organisations and the environment as living systems, to recognise their complexities and to develop appropriate solutions.
